Homebuyers Program

We aspire to assist Steele Creek attendees in their pursuit of home ownership. Acquiring a home is a significant means of cultivating generational prosperity, ensuring increased security for your family's future. After completing this program with our partner at self-Help credit union the participants will be eligible to receive up to $7,500 in matching grant funds toward the purchase of your home, at closing.

Please review the required criteria below. If you are eligible, we would love you to apply for the program. Please note that the program applicant must go through this process and you may not apply on behalf of another person.

Homebuyers Program Criteria

1. Must be a member of Steele Creek Church or participate in SCC’s temporary housing program (current or former participant). Becoming a member of Steele Creek requires one to attend our Discipleship Day, offered periodically throughout the year and complete the required membership form. While you may apply for this program before completion, matching funds will not be released until this step is complete.

2. Must be 21 years old and a US Citizen.

3. Applicants must submit to an interview process where we will qualify the following:

  • Employed full-time with your current employer for a minimum of six months.
  • You are a US Citizen.
  • Your home ownership status. You must not currently own a home.
  • You are willing to complete a coaching program through Self-Help Credit Union.

  • Your marital status. You may apply for the program as a single person or married couple. Joint applicants must prove marital status. Marriage as defined by SCC is one man and one woman.
  • You are willing to share your financial information.

4. The applicant’s household income should not exceed 80k/y if single and 125k/y if married.

5. You must not have experienced a bankruptcy within two years of your application. Prior to any bankruptcy, you must prove two years of re-established credit, with no late payments or default.
