Good Friday

Overview

This is it. We are here. It’s Good Friday. So why is it called Good Friday anyway? Why is the day that our Saviour died a good day? It’s good in the sense that it embodies the greatest form of love that the world has ever seen or will ever know. Our God and creator became like us, human, and lived a perfect life here on Earth. His death was the perfect sacrifice for us, so that we can have forgiveness, mercy, love, and access to our heavenly Father. Although it was a bad day for Jesus, it was a “good” day for us as believers! Remember that Jesus entered Jerusalem to the shouts of “Hosanna”, which means “save us”. On that Good Friday, he was doing just that...saving them all from their sins. Today, we will read about Jesus’ crucifixion. The day takes us through his trial, where the crowd chose a known murderer over Jesus, to the beatings and mocking that he endured. It finally ended with the painful death he suffered on the cross. As you read today, pray for eyes to see the details of Christ’s sacrifice in a new light.

Take time as a family to discuss Jesus’ plan to save us and to pray together.

Bonus: Once you are done, take some turns rolling the dice to see if you remember what each color represents.
