Special Needs

Our Vision

To create an inclusive, loving, safe and supportive community where individuals with special needs and their families can experience the love of Christ, grow in their faith, and actively participate in the life of the church.

Our Core Practices

Inclusivity

We believe that every person is made in the image of God and has unique gifts and abilities. Our ministry will strive to create an environment where everyone feels welcome, valued, safe and included.

  1. We’ve created a space just for our special friends with differing levels of need.
  2. We have a team that loves children and has been thoroughly vetted to serve.
Love and Compassion

Inspired by the love and compassion of Jesus, we will provide care and support to individuals with special needs and their families, recognizing and responding to their unique challenges and needs as resources allow.

  1. We are always looking for resources, partnerships, and other opportunities to serve our families.
  2. We love being able to serve them and allow them to come to church together.
  3. Our team allows our children to play and express themselves freely in this space as much as we can allow for the safety of others.
Spiritual Growth

We are committed to fostering the spiritual growth of individuals with special needs, providing opportunities for them to learn about God, grow in their faith, and experience the joy of a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

  1. Every week there is a time for Bible, prayer, and worship in our classroom.

About the Ministry

Pre-K to 5th Grade

Currently serving Pre-K to Elementary age (5th Grade)

Space is limited

Space is limited in the classroom Sunday mornings, so the intake process is very important for us to be prepared and open communication.

Volunteer Based

This is a volunteer ministry, meaning it runs on the love and service of church members. Which may mean that our ability to serve a certain level of needs may not be possible.

Background Checks

Every volunteer is subject to reference checks, background checks, and director approval.

Child Intake Process

Due to the differing nature of needs and ability of our volunteer teams, we have an intake process for every special friend that comes to join us. This process helps us to better understand the child and how to serve them. Our simple intake steps are listed below:

Fill out the intake form

This form helps us to get a better grasp on needs, care, and how to serve the child and your family to the best of our ability.

*We do not take a child in on Sunday mornings without an intake process for the safety of the child, other friends, families and team.

Follow Up from our Special Needs Director

Our director, Candace Canada, will reach out to welcome you and follow up from the form. This allows us a chance to chat and discuss any care needs, observations, and for you to ask questions.
