Welcome to the journey!
We are so excited that you are interested in joining us on our journey through 21 days of prayer and fasting. Over the next 21 days we are going to be focusing on building our prayer lives as we pray through the Lord’s Prayer daily together. Whether this is your first experience or you have been a Christian for decades our hope is that you will grow in your prayer life and relationship with Jesus during this time.
During our time of prayer and fasting you can choose to set aside 10 minutes, 30 minutes or an hour per day in worship, prayer and the Word (Bible). Throughout these 21 days we will be providing an area to focus your prayer time on along with scripture and reflection questions. Our desire is that you will spend time searching and meditating each day on the scriptures as we go through the Lord’s Prayer together. In order to be most fruitful, we encourage you to set a specific time and a private place ahead of time to meet with God.
Prayer is a powerful discipline in the life of a Christian. It’s sacred and spiritual nature allows us to draw close to God, find His presence and to be filled with Spirit. God calls us to spend time pursuing a relationship with Him regularly. It is prayer that gives us access to our Heavenly Father and allows for Him to speak deeply into our heart, mind and soul. When it comes to prayer: Jesus modeled and taught it (Matthew 6, Luke 11:9-10), Paul encouraged it
(Philippians 4:6, Colossians 4:2, 1 Thessalonians 5:17, Ephesians 6:18), and God desires it to draw near to us. (Deuteronomy 4:7, Psalms 145:18, James 4:8). May we be people of prayer that carry the presence of His Spirit daily.
The scriptures teach us to pray and fast, as it puts us in the best position to receive answers and find breakthroughs (Matthew 6:16, 2 Chronicles 7:14). By choosing to fast, we make a tangible sacrifice to God in order to humble ourselves and open our hearts so that He may speak clearly to us. Fasting teaches us to discipline our body, mind, and spirit by bringing our desires into submission to be less dependent on the earthly and more focused on the eternal. Fasting along with prayer is a powerful discipline for a fruitful Christian life.
